Ker is the abbreviation of Kerrouchèn, or rather the name of a village in the Middle Atlas range in Morocco in which mats were made. The symbol the weavers embellished the mats with is very distinctive, this is why Ceramgres has chosen it to decorate the Ker collection of tiles.
In the mats, the symbolic element is placed in the outer frame which consists of a serial module of four contrasting anthropomorphic figures whose arms and legs are turned inward, towards the womb; the repetition of the symbol reinforces its deep significance.
The tiles maintain the formal abstraction of the body of the goddess through a chromatic play of the pieces that compose the mosaic, where the iridescence of the head is obtained with a mirror finish inlay.
The tiles are a reinterpretation of the original symbol woven into the mats. This adaptation was necessary due to technical and expressive needs, nevertheless the resulting patterns are full of primordial significance, the essence of which persists over time.
