15 Minute Series Who is the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority?

The Internet functions partly through the use of Internet parameters, such as IP (Internet Protocol) addresses, domain names, autonomous system numbers (used in some routing protocols), protocol numbers and port numbers. Each of these parameters must be unique.

Some examples:

No two computers can have the same IP address.

No two Internet applications can be associated with the same port number.
