THE SCHOOL OF ASTRONOMY
The Pio X School has a planetarium, one of the few in north-eastern Italy which simulates the celestial horizon and permits the study of astronomical phenomena. It is visited every year by more than 10,000 students, coming from other provinces too.
The Astronomy Association is located at the planetarium, presided by the Astronomer G.Romano from Treviso, Professor of History of Astronomy at Padua University, former student and teacher at this school. The association holds weekly meetings for the members and has been organizing the Open School of Astronomy and Culture for the public over the past 19 years.
People fond of astronomy and anyone interested in watching the sky can do so, every tuesday evening, using the School's Newton Telescope.
THE LIBRARY
A very popular study place for students and former students now attending university. It has more than 18,000 volumes, classified by author, title and subject in electronic files. About 20,000 magazine articles are catalogued too. Local History section has been organized and is kept updated with the collaboration and funding by the towns of the province of Treviso.
PARENTS' SCHOOL
The school promotes and supports initiatives of the Pio X Parents' Association: meetings and round-tables on religious subjects and meetings among parents of each class or the entire institute.
ORIENTATION
For the graduating classes of the middle school and of the High School, orientation activities are organized for the students to help them choose their subsequent studies.
For the students attending the last year of Middle School, self-evaluation research, introduction to different types of High School and a three-day outing to think about their life plan are organized.
Students attending the last year of High School can take part in courses recommended by the School District together with students from the city schools, presenting the university studies, and can attend class meetings with former-students now at university level or working as professionals.
OTHER ACTIVITIES
The School also organizes other religious educational activities, cultural trips, social studies, sexual education, music history, journeys abroad and stages in the USA and England, seminars and conferences on current events.
